NER Construction Management was the General Contractor for this multi-phased Historic restoration of the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston. Directly across from the Public Library and Trinity Church in Copley Square, this grand Hotel is an architectural landmark built on the original site of the Museum of Fine Arts.
Our work consisted of the rebuilding of terra cotta window heads including steel lintel replacement, terra cotta matching and replacement, and selective repointing of brick and terra cotta masonry at the upper floors of the occupied Four Star hotel. All work was accessed from the exterior using motorized work platform lifts which reduced the visual obstruction of the windows at the lower floors.
Modified work hours and continual scheduling with the hotel staff reduced the impact on guest services
